FILLMORE — A girl Friday man has been charged in connection with the slaying of Millard County sheriff's deputy Josie Greathouse Fox.
Ruben Chavez-Reyes, 36, was charged Tuesday in 4th Area Court with obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony. Officials have not specified what r investigators believe he played, but the charge says he "did provide a person with transportation or other means of avoiding exploration or apprehension."
Fox was gunned down Jan. 5 while making a traffic stop of a suspected second-storey man who was driving a Cadillac on U.S. 50. The man police believe was the driver, Roberto Miramontes Roman, 37, has been charged with main murder and, if convicted, could face the death penalty.
Investigators initially said Chavez-Reyes owned the Cadillac that Fox had stopped and a Corvette that was discovered in Table salt Lake City later that day with one of the license plates from the Cadillac. The discovery of the two vehicles touched off a statewide manhunt, with SWAT teams swarming homes in Spice Lake and Nephi, where the Cadillac was found.
