Rats take another from Phantoms

GLENS FALLS -- If the Adirondack Phantoms and the Albany River Rats are common to develop the rivalry everyone expected, the Phantoms are going to have to beat them sooner or later.

A multitude of 4,611 watched at the Glens Falls Civic Center on Saturday tenebrosity as Albany beat Adirondack for the fourth time this season, this time 4-1.

After this latest disappearance, the doors to the locker room stayed closed for nearly 20 minutes as the conspire met with coach Greg Gilbert.

"(It was) more along the lines of, we have to figure our (stuff) out," Phantoms saucy Jon Matsumoto said.

There's a lot of figuring to be done.

The Phantoms have lost six of their last seven games, and the problems in this gutsy mirrored the ones in those losses. Namely, the Phantoms have the league's worst offense and a shocking power play.

In 22 games, they've scored a league-low 46 goals. The power coverage is just 12 for 114 this season, and 1 for 37 over the last seven games.

"Like teacher said, we're not driving the net properly, we're not shooting, we're turning the puck over," Matsumoto said. "Basically a lot of self-inflicted wounds."

2010 Dodge Viper at the LA Auto Show

If you go to the LA Auto Show, you'll find several Vipers holed up in a starkly lit precinct of the assembly center that Ralph Gilles, Dodge mark president, has bewitched to job the Judas Pit.

(Glorious Grey Metallic is the other.) Also on open out is the red/dark-skinned Viper ACR that reportedly ran a 7:22 lap on the Nurburgring Nordschleife last year.

The pit also houses an all-hyacinthine Viper like the one Gilles owns (and has named "Voodoo"). If you like it, perhaps you can be one of 10 people to get it on the 2010 Dodge Viper ACR Voodoo Issue. Yes, superficially, Dodge will only increase 10. They'll be gloomy with a graphite length outlined in red.
